In its chandelier version, Le Gigine becomes a true light choreography. Available as standard in 8, 16 or 24 lamp versions, it unfolds in space like a cascade of suspended elements, each following its own trajectory. The composition can appear delicate and intimate or majestic and spectacular, depending on the cable length and chosen density. Its floating silhouettes create a rain of light, a shifting light landscape to be admired as much as it illuminates.
To create Le Gigine, Knikerboker shapes metal with unexpected grace; the suspension appears to emerge from a free, almost instinctive gesture, as if the metal had been sculpted by the wind or by a wave at the precise moment it folds back. Each lamp draws a free, almost vegetal curve, evoking a petal opening, a leaf bent by the light, or a marine shape gently floating in space. Suspended by dozens, these elements become a true shower of light, an aerial spectacle that turns this luminaire into a light sculpture.
When illuminated, the Knikerboker Le Gigine A chandelier becomes a vessel for light, nestled within its curves, bouncing off hand-hammered surfaces, and escaping as a warm and enveloping glow. Le Gigine does not illuminate directly; it diffuses, it caresses, it suggests. The indirect lighting creates a soft and refined atmosphere, as if the room were bathed in an organic glow reminiscent of a sunset on a subtly vibrating metallic surface.
This cluster suspension naturally finds its place in a high-ceilinged hallway, above a staircase, in a contemporary living room or a hospitality space where a strong visual identity is desired. The range of finishes allows its character to be tailored — golden touches for a warm atmosphere, darker shades for a striking sculptural effect, or patinated tones reminiscent of raw, natural materials.
Choosing Le Gigine by Knikerboker means bringing in a luminaire that goes beyond the function of lighting — a piece that invites the eye upwards, to follow the curves, to observe the light. A light object that transforms the room into a living, elegant setting, deeply inspired by the forms of nature.
Knikerboker offers this designer luminaire in different standard colours or finishes, but on request, the factory in Italy can adapt to your preferences for other colours. The ceiling base can be white, black, or match the colour or finish of the pendants. The electrical cables are offered in different standard lengths and can be shortened; longer cables are available upon request. The cables come in a “translucent” finish; other finishes are also possible on request. Light intensity can be dimmed using either phase-cut Triac or Dali systems.
All Knikerboker products are handmade in Italy, allowing great flexibility in the finishes and dimensions of the luminaires. Each lamp is unique, never exactly identical, with surfaces that may sometimes be irregular — these are not defects, but the distinctive characteristics of handcrafted artisanal products.
